Highly Anticipated Bill Discussed In Mississauga
Local MP, Omar Alghabra organized a meeting between the Federal Minister of Transport and the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) to discuss Bill C-49, The Transportation Modernization Act.
MISSISSAUGA ON– On Tuesday, August 15, 2017, Mississauga Centre Member of Parliament Omar Alghabra organized a meeting between Transportation Minister Marc Garneau and the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) at the Living Arts Centre. Their main topic of discussion was the Transportation Modernization Act: Bill C-49. They also discussed the current status of the airline industry, and ideas on improving the experience of Canadian travelers.
A part of Bill C-49 will enable a regulatory framework to set a standard of protection across the country that airlines would have to follow, preventing anti-consumer practices and policies.
This meeting was part of the Minister’s ongoing engagement with industry and consumer representatives. Our government is committed to finding ways to improve the experience of Canadian travelers and strengthening a competitive and sustainable environment for the industry.
The Government of Canada intends to have the new passenger protection regime implemented by 2018. Omar Alghabra hopes that this meeting with Minister Garneau and ACTA will help ease the implementation of this bill and ensure protection for all Canadians.
